Description:

Sterling Travel Management is a well-established independent company based in Southampton since 1992 specialising in Business Travel Management and Travel Technology.

Basic Function

Responsible for the operational sales of all domestic and international travel related products and services. Conduct administrative functions as required.

Essential Attributes

  • Qualified to BA2 Level of equivalent
  • GDS proficient - preferably Amadeus
  • In-depth knowledge of fare research
  • Experience working on online booking tools with Cytric, Conferma, Evolvi
  • Account Management

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Undertake all tasks as an operational team member as required by Company
  • Be fully conversant with the full portfolio of services and online booking tools offered by Sterling Travel Management
  • Be familiar with client travel policies and how each account operates
  • Examine all Fare Research opportunities and ensure maximum utilisation of contract rates and agent commissions offer by suppliers
  • Upsell Sterling Travel Management’s full range of services to existing customers
  • Account manage any designated accounts and disseminate new and relevant information to the whole team
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the business travel market
  • Assist with reconciliation duties as required
  • Raise client invoices for bookings in Back Office System
  • Maintain client files and keep Sterling Travel Management’s Intranet up-to-date
  • Undertake any agreed additional or specialist responsibilities relating to operations administration
  • Liaise closely with the Business Development Managers to win new business and retain business
  • Ensure that all transactions carried out within the Company are treated as strictly confidential at all times
  • Adhere to procedures in Sterling Travel Management’s ISO 9001 Quality Manual
  • Work in accordance with the Company’s Terms and Conditions as set out in the Contract of Employment and Company Staff Handbook

Overview
Field sales role developing, defining, negotiating and closing business. Selling full business travel management service to prospective corporate clients. Travel background a help but not essential.

Purpose of Role
Identify prospective clients and win new accounts via cold calling and appointments. Account manage and maximise spend of on-going accounts by monitoring and upselling.

Core Skills Required

  • Professional target driven approach
  • High level of spoken & written English
  • Ability to research and identify leads
  • Good telephone manner
  • Proficient cold calling
  • Detailed meeting preparation and follow-up
  • On-going account management to maximise sales

Role includes

  • Thorough knowledge of Sterling Travel Management product portfolio
  • Competitor awareness
  • Prepare carefully targeted cold call lists
  • Use of social media for networking and marketing purposes
  • Contact potential corporate clients to gain appointments
  • Prepare and conduct prospective client meetings with presentations as required
  • Submit proposals, achieve closure and sign new business
  • Implement new accounts strictly in accordance with our ISO 9001 quality of service procedures
  • Plan and manage time effectively to achieve targets
  • Communicate all relevant information regularly and clearly to the full staff team
  • Maintain client database
  • Attend business networking events
  • Submit weekly and monthly work returns
  • Assist with sales office administration as required
