Exhibitions at the National Army Museum
The major modern army exhibition, Conflicts of Interest, takes a hard look at over three decades of conflict, examining the varying roles of the modern British Army across the globe and the impact being a serving soldier has on home life. Personal accounts from servicemen and women shed light on the demands placed on our troops.
First Shots: Early War Photography 1848-60 is the latest display to launch in the new White Space gallery. Documenting war photography when it was still in its infancy, First Shots uses some of the earliest shots from the museum's collection. It explores what drove the pioneers of war photography; the technical, social and environmental pressures which shaped their work and the impact the images they produced had upon culture and society.
Finally, War Boy: The Michael Foreman Exhibition explores some of the complex themes of the World Wars and the civilian connection to the British Army. War Boy is a unique opportunity to see original artwork by leading children's illustrator Michael Foreman, alongside the National Army Museum's artefacts. A hands-on, interactive experience for all the family, the exhibition offers an insight into the styles and techniques used within Michael Foreman's books.
