There is a large array of high-profile events taking place prior to 2012 that will attract corporate hospitality and themed activity and of course visitors.
Later this year, the city welcomes both the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the ATP World Tour Tennis Finals. In 2011, London will host the Uefa Champions League Final and the World Badminton Championships.
The city's event credentials don't end at sport either. From 8-13 October 2009, the London Restaurant Festival will emphasise the diversity of food and culture in the capital, with activities including a pop-up restaurant on the roof of Selfridges, Gourmet Odysseys on London buses, plus a food film festival and The Big Roast, which will see well known chefs cook Sunday lunch for 400 at Leadenhall Market.
Annual highlights such as the International Boat Show, the Chelsea Flower Show and the Red Bull Air Race continue to attract international visitors. And congresses, such as the world's largest medical conference, Gastro 2009, are queuing up to enjoy London's unique spaces and world-class conferencing.
