Currently, the airport offers 45 destinations across the UK, Europe and the Channel Islands, and over 77% of these routes are to international destinations. During the past year, the airport has introduced 3 new Flybe routes to the key German cities of Frankfurt, Hannover and Dusseldorf. Extra services have also been added to the major business capitals of Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.
John Rutherford OBE, Director of Inward Investment for the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA), recently visited the airport to discuss future business opportunities, and commented: "Germany is a key market for this region and for SEEDA. I was delighted to hear about the new air links to Frankfurt, Hannover and Dusseldorf. We are targeting foreign investment from countries such as Germany, and good air links are vital for international business."
Chris Butler, Managing Director at Southampton Airport, said: "The growing range of routes available from Southampton Airport means that business passengers can get to and from this region really easily. The airport's popularity is continuing to grow, with last month being the busiest August on record. The airport welcomed 204,359 passengers, which was a 2.5% increase on the previous year."
