Wilton's Music Hall

Wiltons Music HallWilton's is a thought to be the world's oldest and last surviving music hall. Once known as "the handsomest venue in town", it was built by John Wilton in 1858 and was an enormously popular place that saw crowds of people cram in to see the acts.

It has since taken on a number of guises, including a place of worship and a warehouse, before becoming derelict, but in 2004 the Wilton's Music Hall Trust began a programme to bring the venue back into use. It can be dressed to suit any occasion and hosts up to 250 guests.

 

The Troxy

The Troxy LondonOriginally a cinema, the Troxy is now a dedicated events venue able to host more than 2,600 delegates.

The 1930s Art Deco building is Grade-II listed. Its open plan Grand Hall has a raised stage and is overlooked by the Upper Circle, which has a mix of theatre-style seating and VIP seats with tables.

On the first floor, the White Room, which has white glass floors and marble effect walls, can be hired for up to 200 guests.

In the past six months, the Troxy has hosted events including Tower Hamlets Borough Council's education conference, Newham College Awards, Limelight Film and Arts Awards and the East Thames Conference.

 

East Wintergardeneast wintergarden

East Wintergarden can accommodate up to 1,000 people and has previously been used for exhibitions, award ceremonies, product launches and dinners by clients such as Aviva and Hoover Candy.

The glass-covered atrium also staged the launch of London's Crossrail project in May 2009.

The Gallery, suspended above the main floor, can be booked on its own for smaller functions, while the Promenade Room is available as a multimedia meeting space for up to 40.

 

Museum of London DocklandsMuseum of London Docklands

The museum traces the 2,000-year history of the Thames in a five-storey Georgian warehouse - Canary Wharf's sole Grade I-listed building.

Areas include the Rum Store, which can seat 60, and the Wilberforce Theatre, which seats 146.

The galleries, which each look at a different era of London's port history, can also be used for receptions for up to 800 guests.

 

Abbey Canary Wharf Business Centre

Canary Wharf Business CentreServiced office space and meeting room provider Abbey Business Centres operates 13 venues throughout the UK.

Its Canary Wharf facility is located up high on the 37th floor of One Canada Square, the highly visible landmark tower at the heart of the Docklands development.

Groups can hire the facilities, which include seven meeting rooms for up to 30 people, by the hour or for a full or half day.

Rates start at £50 and recent corporate clients include Barclays and construction firm Laing O'Rourke.

The company's other London venues include the equally distinctive 30 St Mary Axe building, better known as the Gherkin, in the heart of the City.

 

Docklands Sailing and Water Sports Centre

Docklands Sailing and Water Sports Centre2Situated on the Isle of Dogs, the venue opened in 1989 to provide activities such as windsurfing and canoeing for the local community.

Its main hall can be booked for events and seats 100, theatre-style.

The Seminar Room seats 12, while the Wet Classroom can provide additional break-out space and has previously been used by the London Fire Brigade as a training venue.

Team-building activities can also be organised and packages are tailor-made to suit client needs. The Dragon Boat and barbecue event, which is suitable for groups of 500 or more, is particularly popular.

Past clients include JP Morgan, Credit Suisse and charity, the NSPCC.

 

Prenelle GalleryPrenelle Gallery

The Prenelle Gallery, a floating exhibition space moored near West India Quay, has three event spaces.

The Main Gallery is available year round for corporate events, while the Library lends itself to more intimate gatherings.

The Outer Deck can also be used in the summer months for groups of up to 150 people.

 

BoundaryThe Boundary Schoreditch

Boundary in Shoreditch opened in January 2009 in a converted Victorian warehouse.

The venue comprises three restaurants and bars, a food store and 17 recently opened guestrooms.

A variety of spaces can be booked for groups of up to 200, and the rooftop garden and restaurant can also be hired exclusively.

 

Dockmaster's HouseDockmasters House

Dockmaster's House is a new Indian restaurant located in a listed building in the West India Quay area of Docklands.

It has three spaces for hire - the Lounge, the Strover Room, which seats 40, and the Cube, which can accommodate 25 delegates.

Day-delegate rates start at £35 per person including a buffet lunch.

 

Excel London - Development 2010Excel London

The second phase of development at Excel London is due to be completed in April 2010, which will increase the size of the venue by more than 50%, taking it to 100,000m2.

It will include a 5,000-seat auditorium and planning permission has also been granted for a 280-room hotel, due to open by the end of 2011.

 

The BathhouseThe Bathhouse

Located below Bishopsgate churchyard, the former Turkish baths opened in late summer 2009 as a bar, live music venue, cafe and fine dining 80-seat Italian restaurant.

Built in 1859, the venue retains a sense of Victorian splendour and corporate groups can hire all or sections of the venue for groups of up to 150 people, seated.

 

Forman's Fish IslandFormans Fish Island

Smokehouse H Forman and Son opened its new factory opposite the Olympic Park, having been forced to relocate to make way for construction of the stadium.

Its new site offers two event spaces, a restaurant and terrace for hire for up 600.

Restaurant group Yo! Sushi was one of the first corporates to hold a meeting there.

 

Thames Quay MegayachtThames Quay Mega Yacht

Thames Quay in West India Docks is to become home to a permanently moored 'megayacht'.

The much-anticipated 170-mentre-long vessel will offer delegates 158 luxurious staterooms and suites.

It will also house meeting rooms, and on-board ballroom, gym, spa, pool and restaurant.

 

Whitechapel GalleryWhitechapell Gallery

Be among the first to use the newly expanded Whitechapel Gallery.

As a registered charity, all venue hire proceeds go towards exhibitions and an education programme.

Eight galleries can be hired all day on Mondays or on any evening.

The Zilkha Auditorium seats 100 and the Clore Creative Studios can host 60 guests.

 

Victoria ParkVictoria Park in London

The 218-acre park in Hackney has become well known as a venue for concerts and festivals, and in 2012 it will be an official Olympic venue when it hosts the walking event.

There are currently plans for the park to house a number of hospitality suites and to stage events for the public to enjoy during the Games.
