8 March 2010

The UK Border Agency has announced that the PCS (Public & Commercial Services) Union Members have called a 48 hour strike.
The strike will affect UK Border Agency staff. Union members include air traffic controllers, customs, border, immigration etc.

This strike will commence from 7am on Monday 8 March until 7am on Wednesday 10 March.

The impact of the strike will be different at individual ports, airports and international rail terminals based on a number of factors including:

  • The proportion of UK Border Agency staff at the port who are members of the PCS
  • The number of staff who choose to strike on either or both days
  • The number of volunteers who are able to work in overtime or who will deploy to support frontline operations

The UK Border Agency advises passengers to travel as normal but to expect some additional delay passing through border controls.
It is recommend passengers to allow sufficient time to complete departure formalities.
