A strike which would have paralysed Finnair services over the next week has been cancelled after the airline struck a deal with two of its unions.
The industrial action had been due to start on 15 November and then run on alternate days until 23 November. Finnair had already cancelled some services in anticipation of the strike.
But the industrial action has now been cancelled after Finnair agreed a new collective labour agreement with two unions representing cabin crew and support staff.
13 November 2013
Finnish Cabin Crew Union and Finnish Aviation Union have published a strike warning starting on 15 November until 23 November.
If the strikes go ahead they would have a severe impact on Finnair operations during that period.
Finnair offers the following flexibility options for customers whose flight is between 15 November 23 November and who therefore may be impacted:
- Advance the departure or the return date to 13 November
- Postpone the departure or the return date to 25 November 2013 31 May 2014, excluding 16 December 2013 6 January 2014
The strike would also have an impact on baggage handling so Finnair recommends that passengers have all their important and valuable items such as medicine, keys and etc. in their carry-on baggage.
British Airways are planning to operate a normal schedule to/from Helsinki during the strike period.
