US Airways is to begin non-stop flights from Charlotte to Heathrow from March 2013.
The carrier said it will be able to start this new daily route after being awarded slots at Heathrow.
US Airways currently operates flights from Gatwick to Charlotte, as well as a daily service from Heathrow to Philadelphia. The airline said no decision had been taken yet on the future of the Gatwick-Charlotte route.
The airline will use an Airbus A330 on the Charlotte-Heathrow route featuring its Envoy international business class cabin which includes seats that recline into a fully flat bed.
The new flight will start in Miami before travelling to US Airways’ Charlotte hub and then on to Heathrow. US Airways said it would announce full details of its schedule and fares “at a later date”.
