Heathrow Airport have made some changes to their security search procedures involving additional bag searches as passengers pass through security.
Increased security controls at Central Search will cause delays to passengers through to all gates. This means that the Central Search area may take up to 45 minutes to clear.
- Travellers may be asked to have their bag searched by one of the officers in the security screening area. The bag search will be thorough and will add time to your security screening.
- To help keep wait to a minimum passengers are advised to arrive in plenty of time and check in any hand baggage not essential for their journey.
- A maximum of two bags per person will be allowed through by BAA. If a travellers has more they will be sent back to check-in.
