Passengers travelling through Stansted airport could face delays over the next few weeks, as the GMB union has announced seven days of strikes for ground-handling staff.
The union, which represents staff employed by ground handler Swissport, said that notice of the industrial action had been given “following the breakdown of talks to resolve a dispute over rosters”.
The seven days of industrial action is scheduled to take place between the following dates:
- 05:30 on 23 May until 05:30 on 24 May
- 05:30 on 26 May until 05:30 on 28 May
- 05:30 on 2 June until 05:30 on 6 June
Ground handler Swissport serve the following airlines: Ryanair, Atlasjet, Thomson, Thomas Cook and Belleair. Other airlines will be unaffected by any industrial action.
Passengers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey to the airport and arrive at least two hours prior to departure.
