Virgin Atlantic - New York chauffeur driven car mileage

 6 Apr 2010

Virgin Atlantic logoFrom 12 April 2010, the complimentary mileage range for the Virgin Atlantic chauffeur driven car service will be changed to within 75 miles for journeys to and from JFK and Newark Airports.

Those passengers who wish to take a journey beyond the 75 mile limit can still benefit from the service, as they will have the opportunity to pay a supplement for any excess mileage. Virgin Atlantic will advise passengers if their journey goes beyond 75 miles at the time of booking the chauffeur car.

Passengers can pay the chauffeur in cash or by credit card at the start of their journey. They may be contacted in advance of their journey by the New York chauffeur driven car company (NYC outbound only) and will be able to pay by card at that time. The supplement will be $3.50 per mile.

The change comes into effect for all bookings made after the 12 April 2010.

Virgin Atlantic’s chauffeur driven car service is available for Upper Class passengers travelling with a J, D or R ticket.

Q. If I have booked a passenger ticket prior to 12 April 2010 will Virgin Atlantic honour the previous range for the complimentary chauffeur driven car service?
A. Yes, if the booking has been paid for.

Q. Where does this change apply to?
A. This charge applies New York. It does not affect the mileage offered in other destinations. However, this applies in all points of sale offering a chauffeur driven car within New York.

Q. Can the passenger pay for the extra miles when they buy their flight?
A. At present, the systems will not allow for the payment to be taken when the passenger is booking.

Q. If the passenger lives beyond the 75 mile radius but does not want to pay the supplement, can they get the chauffeur to pick them up from a nearer pick up point - such as a regional train station?
A. No, unfortunately Virgin Atlantic is only able to offer a 75 mile journey to / from JFK or Newark.

Q. If passengers wish to share a car, are they entitled to a larger complimentary mileage?
A. Yes. If 2 or more passengers travel together, they are entitled to 150 miles, providing at least 2 passengers are travelling in J, D or R class. Virgin Atlantic can occasionally take 3 or 4 passengers in one car (if there is sufficient room for baggage) but the complimentary mileage will still be limited to 150 miles. Should one passenger share with one other who is not travelling in J or D or R class, the 75 mile restriction will still apply. If any Virgin Atlantic passenger shares with an Upper Class Corporate passenger, the mileage restriction will apply to any address in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania.
