The UK Government requires Advanced Passenger Information (API) for all passengers travelling internationally into and out of the UK.
Advance Passenger Information means providing certain information to the authorities before passengers travel, such as passport details and, where necessary, contact information.
Airlines will be required to provide Advance Passenger Information for travelling to and from the following countries:
- Argentina
- Bahrain
- Bermuda
- Brazil
- Canada
- Caribbean
- China
- Dominican Republic (from 27 April 2010)
- Hong Kong
- India
- Israel
- Japan
- Kenya
- Malta
- Mexico
- Oman
- Qatar
- Spain
- South Africa
- Thailand
- Turkey
- Ukraine
- United Arab Emirates
- USA
The Advanced Passenger Information (API) required is as follows:
- Full given names (as per passport)
- Surname (as per passport)
- Gender
- Nationality
- Date of birth
- Travel document number (e.g. passport)
- Travel document expiry date
- Travel document country of issue
In order to minimise unnecessary delays at the airport, it is essential that, all travellers provide the API prior travelling to the airport.
