Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) required for flights to Canada
2 Feb 2016
The Government of Canada has recently introduced a new entry requirement, known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), that applies to visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting in Canada by air.
Effective 15 March 2016, travellers must obtain an eTA before they can board a flight to Canada. They will need their passport, a credit card and an email address to apply. An eTA costs $7 CAD and is valid for up to five years.
Among those exempt are U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa. Requirements for travellers arriving by land/sea have not changed.
