Changes to Canada's entry requirements from 2016

 4 Sep 2015

Flag of CanadaEffective 15 March 2016, passengers who are visa-exempt for travel to Canada will be required to obtain an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to their departure to Canada.

Visa-exempt passengers transiting via Canada are also required to obtain an eTA prior to their departure. Exemptions include U.S. nationals and individuals who are in possession of a valid Canadian visa.

In preparation for this upcoming requirement, the eTA website is currently active allowing those wishing to obtain their eTA to do so now.

The eTA costs $7 CAD and is valid for 5 years or the length of the validity of the traveller's passport. To find out more about the eTA, click here.
