Sterling Travel : News : British Airways restructures Executive Club

British Airways restructures Executive Club

 2 Feb 2015

British AirwaysBritish Airways is to make major changes to its Avios airmiles scheme, which will see the cheapest Economy class tickets earn 75% less points.

The changes, which come into force from 28 April 2015, will mean the rate at which members earn Avios will depend more on the amount paid for the ticket - including the class booked, and the different type of fare bought.

The cheapest tickets in Euro Traveller and World Traveller will now earn only a minimum of 25% per mile flown instead of 100%.

However, Business and First class passengers will see their Avios points rise by as much as two-thirds with a flight from Heathrow to New York JFK picking up 8,645 airmiles, up from 5,187, on a one-way flight.

BA is also introducing changes to the price of reward flights depending on time of year, cabin and zone, as well as expanding the number of fare classes from which upgrades can be purchased.
