Sterling Travel : News : BA baggage allowance travelling to/from Brazil

BA baggage allowance travelling to/from Brazil

 31 Jan 2018

British AirwaysFrom 22 January 2018, there is a change to BA's free baggage allowance for World Traveller and World Traveller Plus bookings to and from Brazil. British Airways partner airline, Iberia, is also changing its free baggage allowance on this date. These changes are due to a change in baggage regulations by the Brazilian government.

A customer travelling in either of these cabins can still check two bags into the hold. However, the maximum free weight is now 23kg per bag for any bookings made from 22 January 2018. For new bookings from that date, any bag that weighs between 23kg and 32kg will be charged the Heavy Bag Charge.

No hold bag can weigh more than 32kg. If you booked your ticket before 22 January 2018, you will still be able to travel with two bags at 32kg and BA will not charge you the Heavy Bag Charge.

It will help BA to check your bags in quicker if you have your e-ticket email receipt with you at the airport to show check-in staff. The allowance that is stated when you check in on is 23kg, however if you booked your ticket before 22 January 2018, please bring your e-ticket receipt with you to the airport to show the staff when you drop off your bags and BA will not charge you the Heavy Bag Charge.
